The Austrian capital, Vienna, has a size of 415 sq. km and coverage of ca. 133 km. Over the decades Vienna became truly a cosmopolitan city.
Since 1979 Vienna hosts the third UN headquarter (along with Geneva and New York) and is culturally influenced by many immigrants. From the early days until the rise to a world metropolis end of the 19th Century, many people from different origins have lived in this city. At that time, state officials were obliged to speak 6 to 8 languages. Self-evidently, this is reflected in the over 2000 years old culture and in the 1000 years preserved architecture.
An interesting atmosphere was created, which has made the Viennese cultural force unique in the areas of science, architecture, visual arts and music. Today, Vienna is an attractive place to live. Measured in terms of population, with 1.6 million, Vienna is the seventh largest European city.
